Too Little Too Late

Dec. 3rd, 2006 | 12:59 pm

There is one word I feel that can describe my summer experience. Random. Really, it started from fearing there is nothing to do, to a bizillion things to do. For starters, I initially wanted to get a job, any job for the summer so I can earn some cash. (Who doesn't need THAT?) But barely anyone wants to hire a student who doesn't even go to a California school and can only work three months. (So much for seasonal work..LIARS!) There was Denny's (haha), Coldstone and Subway that were considering, but of course as soon as they see I go to WSU, my luck fell. Yes, it's sad. So penniless me sat around for a few days, which was nice, I wanted to have some time to myself and just waste away. But of course, there is a limit. I finally decided to call the TV station I worked for last year to see if I can go back. Producer Lin did say I can last year, but it was just so unappealing because that means I will be going back to typing tediously in Chinese, which is something I've learned to hate and yet somewhat like. Called him, he was a little suprised that I wanted to go back, since ETTV isn't the most glamourous place on earth. But honestly, I'm working to become a journalist, glam is not exactly on top of my list. (That is, of course, until I'm going to report at the Oscars and Brandon Routh calls me up).

(So everything I wrote up there was from like, July...gotta love the autosave on the LJ)

A little late but still...

This it late. Too late. Way beyond late. But that's ok, because finally there is time to describe my amazing moment with God.

Or....Anderson.

It was nearly the beginning of the year when I found out that he was going to be in Hollywood to do a book signing event. Needless to say, I HAD to get myself there. Would I be starstruck? I don't know, but I can say, it wasn't like meeting Johnny Depp or Tom Cruise.

June 12th is a good day. Took the day off from work, (YES!), without the producer knowing the real reason why, (little brother needed someone to babysit), and off to Sunset I went! Most of my friends still had finals and what not, (WHAT are THOSE?), so I grabbed my mom and aunt to come along, which is totally cool since they are both fans of him anyway. (Well, they kind of have to be since we're going to get married and all that...=]) Got there nice and early so we can shop around before the event starts. Walked into the bookstore, called " Booksoup". A very cozy independent bookstore. (Why don't we have more of that? There is just so much of Borders I can take.) Got my book, the cashier person was also cute! (No wonder you don't see anyone in Los Angeles County, they all left for Hollywood.) Went to Beverly Hills and Santa Monica Blvd, haven't been there in a while so that was nice. It was like being in a museum, you can look at it, guess the price of it, but you cannot take out your wallet to buy what catches your eye. Unless you have about $2500 to drop on a thin Marc Jacobs tank top. (Or was it $1500? Who knows)

Went to The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for a drink, really cute barista. I guessed 99.9% that he's gay, since thats most of the population in West Hollywood. But cute nonetheless. Haha~
Soon enough, after a quick dinner at a sushi place, 7 O' Clock quickly rolled around. There were plenty of people waiting outside. The gossiping older women, the power women, the giggling teenage girls, the older silent men, the power men, the gay men, the metrosextuals, and then there was Me. It was quite a diverse crowd.

Yada yada yada...

The anticipation was killing me. I had a sort of " lets just get this over with" feeling just because it was a hot day, I was tired, yet excited. Though I have to say, I did NOT get nervous until I actually saw him, and there were only 10 people in front of me. That's when it really hit me that, oh my lord, he is in front of me, in the flesh, rather through a television screen that is 5000 miles away. Caught his silver hair first. (Ha) It was crazy, all of a sudden, I got really nervous and excited. Even more when I went to the Willy Wonka premiere last year, (That was Johnny, how is this possible?) So finally, it was my turn! And it all went on like this:

A: Hey! Thanks for coming and waiting. (LOOKS STRAIGHT INTO MY EYES)
C: Oh NOOOO problem! (pant pant, LOOKS BACK)
A: How are you?
C: Really good, I just wanted to tell you that you are such an inspiration, I'm an aspiring journalist actually.
A: (Looks up from book) Oh really?
C: Yeah, so I hope in a couple years I'll see you at CNN.
A: Yeah!
C: Unless you get fired, then I would have to go with Lou Dobbs, I'm not sure about that.
A:(Chuckles) Well..in THAT case. (Chuckles). Here you go!
C: Thanks so much, by the way, can we take a quick picture?

So we took a quick picture, my hand touched his $3000 Ralph Lauren suit and grinned like a fucking idiot but who cares really. Then my aunt went up to him super excited and told him that our whole family loves him and points to me, telling him that I'm her neice. Which I got another eye contact. (Total: 4!)

He has to be one of the shyiest people I've met. But his eyes were so crystal blue, and it's weird to hear his voice in person because I wasn't sure what to expect, I mean some people sound differently, but he sounded like what he would sound like on tv. (Ok, this is dumb, but its true!) Haha~ Needless to say, he was super nice and gracious, no wonder he has more and more followers each day. I just hope he doesn't turn Hollywood on me, otherwise I will be very sad.

But anyway, June 12th was the day I met God.

So little time. Ironically, its summer.

I WILL spill everything about Anderson Cooper later. When I have time to do it justice. Tee hee heeeeeeeeee~ Lets just say though, it was freakin amazing and don't worry, wedding invitations will be sent out to the 300 close friends that I have.

Found the equivalent of Orlando of high school to cutie for college...

Brandon Routh. Dear LORD!

Ok back to work. Life as a journalist...

Being at work is like being at school, for some odd reason I have all the time in the world to shop for shoes and update my journal. Well, at least when I'm done with my interview, finish writing the script, edit the tape, put up subtitles and make sure my camera guy got the right tape and send it up to the producers. THEN...yes, I have all the time in the world. I'm actually just waiting to see how long will it take for them to yell out my name and make me do something else that is just as long and tedious as script writing. Not that I don't completely enjoy my work, I do, at a certain point. The people are nice, the camera guys are hysterical and the other girls seem to be ok so far. Whew~ I do miss the girls I worked with last summer though, Joyce, Mary and Zoe, we had a blast working through deadlines and gossiping at the same time without breaking a sweat. It was great, I can't believe that it's been a whole year since then, and I never thought that I was going to come back to ETTV either. Who knew no one wants to hire a student who goes out of state to fold sandwiches and scoop ice cream? I got interests from subway, coldstone, denny's and even chucky cheeses, but all won't hire me cause I'm only here till August...ahhhh the agony...Ishould've gone to NBC...but ETTV can be fun, I'm here just for the experience of reporting anyway, it's not like I'm here for anything glamorous. (That's later...=]) Otherwise I would basically be stuck at home watching MTV or black and white classic zorro series. (I grew up with zorro alrrrright, he's got a special place in my heart, NO LAUGHING)

Anyway, did a very trivial story this morning, I'm glad I can jump straight into reporting once I got back, it's kind of nice. I was even offered a job too, a newspaper editor needed a translator to work on the weekends FROM HOME to translate some articles for them for $100 and possibly higher! Oooooh please take meeeeeeeeeeeee...

Countless Hours yet it flies by~

music: Something on the radio

I've been seeing my friends a lot lately, which came as a suprise, considering most of them are still in school, Sally got 2 jobs, Julie is interning at a business firm, while Jung coaches the team back in DB. (Whom are totally not as cool as the 2004ers). So it's suprising that I get to see them pretty often. Went to lunch with Julie the other day and she said it's funny how she seems to see more of me than the rest who still stayed in Cali for school. Exchanged drama stories, it was fun girl time. Shopping has also been a big thing, considering I'm going back to ETTV to intern with no income coming in. But hey guess what, I don't shop when I'm in Pullman, so I think that's a good justification for my shoppage. Besides, who doesn't need a new summer wardobe? HAHA! Jk, it's not that bad, just a few things here and there...=)

Roger celebrated his birthday last monday and we totally went Go-cart racing! It was so awesome, it was at Orange, so def. not a bad car ride there. We got to wear full racing outfits and helmets too. Inside the helmet we all had to wear a "head sock" thing, so either we looked like terrorists or ninjas....depending on how you see it. Tee hee hee~ Totally got second place baby! And I'm hooked, we're already planning to go back some time in June, at least before Sandy disappears to Taiwan. It was soooo fun!!!

It's a little late but, Happy Birthday Anderson! =) 4 years baby, and we're def. still going strong! ahahhahahahahahahhaha~ gosh I love the LaLa Land...

Summer at last!

May. 20th, 2006 | 08:57 pm
location: HOME!
mood: bouncybouncy
music: Daniel Powter - Bad Day

Summer is finally here! After months of longing and being pissed off at the sudden snowing sudden raining weather of Pullman, a little sun finally peeped out. Finals were horrendous, not as in difficult, but rather the piles of things needed to be done. I had 30 pages worth of essays to write and 2 exams. Which didn't go too bad, but of course, this is the time when my laptop decided to crash on me so I couldn't go on the internet for my research. Good thing Clay's was available for moi, other wise it would be fun trying to do a paper without any resource. I'm not saying the library is of no use, it's just really slow and the computers there are completely unreliable, and I didn't want to take up Patti's and Katie's comp time since they need it all the time, so Voila! Everything worked out, thank god for mechanical engineering majors! =)

So during finals week, we had a little celebration for Lynne's birthday, went to Mexican para Cinco de Mayo! It was fun, it was nice having everyone there for lunch. Then I packed up and cleaned since I was leaving with Clay on Saturday. It was a bittersweet moment, as that was the last time I was going to see Lynne for a while, (MEOW!), I'm gonna miss you Lynne!! Then said good bye to Patti and Katie, it's weird to be at that time of the year, we've lived together for so long, with the sudden parting it was a bit quick in my opinion. So hopped into Clay's Dad's van and left for Seatac. The ride was long but not too bad. I had my MP3 with me so attempted at "signing" Seasons of Love to Clay, which ended up with unstoppable cracking up so...slept and munched. Seattle was fun, it was nice to see the city with good weather. None of the "Seattle Weather" stuff. Went to the Marina, that was fun, although it was a little chilly. Walked around and played at the playground, took a bunch of ridiculous pictures. Then we went to Pike Place Market, that was cool, I've been there before but didn't really get to see it see it. We wondered around a ton of little shops and got a cariature done. Bought honey sticks and tiny donut holes, DELICIOUS! Got a pair of matching turtles, I named mine "Clayton", Clay named his "Leroy Jenkins." (wtf?) LOL! Got Coldstone, (mmmm), Cheesecake factory and walked around town. Went to the Space Needle which was really awesome to see the view at sunset. Went up to the UW and met his friends, whom were tons of fun. We made BBQ skewers one night and his mom made the most amazing desserts ever. MmMMMMmmMMMm....Saw Patti on Thursday, it was good to see her too, it's just still so weird that it's summer! No more yelling across the hallway about something... =( So Seattle was a ton of fun, left for home on Thursday May 11th and came back home to good ol' California! Time for major job hunting, must get some dough in this summer. I was going to intern at NBC, but I decided that it wasn't very realistic since I have no means of transportation. It's for sure I will have my own car next year, it's just mixed feelings about going all the way to Burbank everyday, and with the gas prices and everything without a job it just wasn't very realistic. NBC! PLEASE WANT ME NEXT YEAR AS WELL!

Anyway, Clay's off to field training, so no contact with him for the next 4 weeks. Besides snailmail, which will be fun. Tee hee hee~ I still like writing letters the old fashion way, gluing the envelopes and sticking a stamp then tossing it into the mailbox. I don't know, there's just something about that that attracts me. Emailing just seems so impersonal. Now we have these metal boxes that serves as a mechanical intermediary that just doesn't connect the human emomtion the way paper mail did in the past. Which I think is a little sad and scary, we rely too completely on internet in this fast paced world and sometimes I think it isn't bad to slow down. Especially when it comes to summer time.

Ps. I think we also rely too much on remote controls.

So many things, so little time...

Apr. 25th, 2006 | 10:17 am
location: Room
mood: groggygroggy
music: Chariot - Gavin Degraw

It seems to me when I'm on this thing, most of the time it's when I really shouldn't. Who's procrastinating? Even though I have about 30 pages worth of essays to write and 10 of them is due Monday, I have to get this all out.

Tom Brokaw, Tuesday, April 18, 2006.
He was an amazing speaker, not that I should be suprised since he does speak for a living. But he has an amazing persona on him, he stumbled on his words like 3 times in the entire speech. Yes, I counted. After seeing him just makes me want to get on my ass and do something with my life. And here I am, updating my livejournal...I think any journalist who can pave a road in front of them and follow it with dignity should be commended, risking their lives just so we can see the stories, seeing history happen before their eyes. I CAN'T WAIT! But of course, my first job is going to be investigating how did a 12 year old kid choke on a french fry at a local McDonald's. Hundreds of rejections without rejection letters, being yelled at because I can't make coffee...yep, the glamourous life of being a reporter awaits me.

Which reminded me, NBC contacted me for an interview. That's exciting, I totally didn't expect them to even read my resume let alone getting an opportunity this summer. I'm qualified to do Dateline NBC but I have to send in another thing to be read over again. Hopefuly that would go through, I wouldn't be extremly disappointed if I didn't get it since I wasn't expecting it at all, but it would be nice to know that my resume is good enough for them to actually even WANT me at this point. I just might be able to get a job when I graduate. =) So cross fingers people!

Went to the US Air Force awards dining last Thursday, that was really fun. Got to meet a bunch of Clay's military chums, whom were all so hysterical. Food was good, had chocolate cake. (YES!) It was fun dressing up, I love finding occasions to just dress up and have a good time. And it doesn't hurt when one is surrounded in a sea of uniformed men. (Tee hee heeeeeee) Clay got an award (YAY!) which I totally saw coming. It was an interesting nice, it kind of felt like that one scene from The Notebook when Rachel McAdmas' character was at a military thing with HOT CYCLOPS! A lot of mingling and introducing, but it was fun though, I enjoyed myself watching people. (No, not creepy at ALL). It's crazy how some of them are our age and are married! I think that's so insane, I can't even picture myself being married before 25 and here they are going, "Have you met my wife?" Craziness.

10 more days until school is out. How crazy it is to think that I'm half way through college? Didn't I JUST graduated from high school? I guess not. So many things have changed, mostly for the best and future I would say so..nothing bad about that. Hahaha~

Speaking of change, maybe I should get ready for class. It rained today too. WTF? Sigh..

4 Pages to Go...

Apr. 9th, 2006 | 06:53 pm
mood: blankblank
music: Rooney - I'm a terrible person

This really is just another way of keeping my 4 page paper that is due tomorrow away from my sight. I had Microsoft Word opened since the AM, and yet it still only has my name on it along with a title that has quotation marks around it. (which means, that is definitaly not my title...yet). Progress? You betcha!

This weekend was Mom's weekend, it was pretty nice to see everyone's family. Obviously my parents couldn't make it cause of work and my brother has school, but it's pretty much in the bag that they will be coming up with me when I move back for fall semester. That'll be fun~ Since they haven't seen the apartment yet...

It's now 7pm and it's still light outside. To me, that's a very promising image. Too tired am I from all the snow and rain, time for some sun and beachvolley ball!

Ok...so maybe I should attempt to start.

ARG.

In order to work side by side with Anderson one day, I suppose this paper is worth racking my brains over.
